Congratulations to the new owners of this 1900's American Foursquare duplex!

Check it out!

One of the original home designs in the United States, these are all over the older parts of Indianapolis Metro Area, as well as the older parts of some of the once smaller towns throughout the state of Indiana.

You'll see them as either single family homes or proper townhomes, especially towards the center parts of the city, which were more densely populated back then.

I'd be lying if I said I didn't have an obsession--uh, "low-key interest", I mean--in this uniquely American style of home.

That low-key interest is enmeshed in this part of history, which is my favorite time period, by the way.  Who even was the builder? Did he build the single family home right next to it? Did they get the floor plan from the Sears Catalog? Did it get delivered by train and built on the lot? Who lived there over the years? What was the area like in the 1900's? Were those bricks built on site or shipped in from somewhere? How did people get around and go to market?

Inquiring minds want to know.

Welp, off to the historical society to do a little light research!

You do that, dear.

Anyway....can't wait to see how the new owners transform the property!

With Gratitude,

Miriam

p.s. Sitting 'round that closing table didn't happen all by itself. This deal was particularly technical, and was a case study in why professional representation is so important. Massive thanks to the dapper Dan McNeal of @properties for his clarity and drive.

Additional thanks go to the fantastic team at First American Title for expertly handling the X number of title issues affecting this property, as well as their organizational excellence.

Well done!
